Brookstone

This tidy collection of perfectly maintained streets, lush, healthy lawns, and well-maintained abodes.

Welcome to Brookstone

A smaller enclave with a well-established reputation.

Located alongside Richmond’s western loop, Brookstone is a smaller neighborhood boasting close proximity to major roadways, established history as a great neighborhood, and no homeowners’ association, allowing residents to enjoy freedom and a reduction in monthly expenses. However, this tidy collection of perfectly maintained streets, lush, healthy lawns, and well-maintained abodes goes to show this cared-for neighborhood doesn’t necessarily need an association board to oversee and maintain its character and appeal.

First a coal mining community, Midlothian experienced suburbanization throughout the 20th century and became a bedroom community for many of those who commute to central Richmond each day. While Midlothian has since grown to include dozens of individual communities, Brookstone is one of the few which has managed to remain free of a homeowners’ association. Today, Brookstone residents enjoy a quiet existence, natural scenery, and convenient amenities ensuring they need not stray too far from home to take care of business or enjoy an evening out and about.

What to Love

  • No homeowners’ association allows residents more freedom, fewer restrictions, and allows them to keep a bit extra money in their pocket each month
  • Wonderful mix in proximity to natural scenery and convenient 21st-century amenities
  • Close proximity to several major roadways, making it a breeze to get anywhere in town

Local Lifestyle

Residents of Brookstone enjoy a more laid-back, casual aesthetic than some of Richmond‘s other suburbs. The neighborhood’s lush scenery creates a relaxed feel, something always looked forward to returning to at day’s end. A great location makes getting around to run errands or just spend a night out on the town effortless, with Brookstone being perfectly positioned within the midst of the Robious Road Corridor. Within the neighborhood, residents of all ages enjoy close proximity to local parks, golf courses, and other outdoor sites.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

With a killer location along Highway 711, brunch, cocktails, spa days, and shopping are never more than a few minutes away. While Brookstone may be low-key and casual, the occasional swanky night out is never more than a few minutes from home.

On the weekends, residents of Brookstone have plenty of options for both indoor and outdoor entertainment. A Saturday morning at Independence Golf Club is undoubtedly the best way to start off any weekend. One of the more popular courses in the area is also open to non-members looking to enjoy a one-off round of gold. In addition to the course’s lush greenery, members enjoy on-site dining facilities, access to a beautiful event space, and a regular calendar of social events. Concerts, luaus, and the Halloween monster mash are among a few of the more popular happenings.

Rainy or colder days don’t need to be spent laying around at home. Nearby, the Chesterfield Towne Center is home to over 100 shops, businesses, and restaurants. Chesterfield Towne Center also hosts exciting events of their own in conjunction with the various stores, such as pet photo shoots, gardening markets, and a seasonal fair complete with rides and games, to name a few.

Sushi, sake, and other pan-Asian favorites are the specialty of Wild Ginger, one of the best Far East restaurants in the area. Appearing slightly unsuspecting from the exterior, guests are greeted with a surprisingly lengthy drink menu, an inviting patio, and brightly colored plates of authentic creations accented by modern American additions.

For something a bit more traditional, Toast is the undisputed go-to among several locals. This vibrant neighborhood gastropub features a cozy, warm exterior, daily specials, and a very popular weekend brunch including all the classics, and a few more trendy inclusions.

Things To Do

Just minutes from your front door lies Robious Landing Park, consisting of more than 100 acres of protected green space and outdoor recreation. Guests can canoe or kayak down the James River, go fishing, or tackle the 3.4-mile-long trail. More passive afternoons are enjoyed picnicking, spending time with the kiddos on the playground, or enjoying the greater Richland area’s mostly sunny climate. If the occasional day out and about is in order, downtown Richmond is a short 15-mile drive down the road.
